Artist Statement

The  interaction of light,  color,  forms,  and lines  has captivated me since early childhood.  My artistic bent  has frequently been  toward  mischievousness and whimsy and is manifested in the ways that I deconstruct   and   synthesize   the  natural  and   the   man-made.    Abstract paintings that I create today fuse my perspective on these seemingly discordant worlds with my desire to evoke a sense of the unexpected.   It is highly gratifying when viewers  of my abstract pieces experience the paradoxes of cohesion and chaos,  contrast and harmony.   A strong desire to preserve the beauty of our planet, a  love  of animals,  and a  keen interest  in ancient  and modern architecture have inspired my water-colored paper sculptures and other works.
